Our Story… taking you back to the future.
“In 1983 I was in my third year at Liverpool University, studying to be an art teacher. It was a challenging time, I was facing my third year without even the money to wash my clothes and buy toothpaste and contemplating the real possibility of having to leave the University and find work. Ultimately eating and surviving was becoming more important than studying.
Although I wasn’t to realise it at the time this moment of darkness became one of the most defining moments in my life.
I had a friend at college that I had been to school with, he obviously knew things were tough and must have mentioned it to his father. All of a sudden I got word from my friend that his father had something he would like to talk to me about and he wanted to meet me. We met a couple of days later and he explained that he had heard that things were difficult for me at present and he wanted to help.
So I began to explain my situation. When I had finished he looked at me and asked one simple question.
“How much money do you need to finish your degree?”
I told him the amount and he said “I will give you the money but on one condition, and that is, if you can pay me back in years to come please do so. If you can’t pay me back forget about it and think of it as a gift. But most importantly if I am no longer here please do the same for somebody else.”
Wow. It was an amazing moment, one of the most emotional and inspiring of my life.
It is this act of selfless generosity that defined a key principle in my life, that of giving back. So when I began to consider a career change away from teaching and into the world of marketing, I kept at the forefront of my mind the sheer power of an emotional connection.
As Perfect Circle has grown and matured we have tried to remain true to our belief that ‘Creative work that inspires an emotional connection has the most powerful effect on peoples behavior’. And it is Perfect Circles social marketing approach and capability that now provides our way of giving back.
We work with education providers to make people more successful, we work with organisations that promote health and well being, and through ‘The Ark’ and ‘Playtime’ support anybody that is passionate about building a sustainable environment. Our dream is ‘Successful people, leading healthy lives, in a sustainable environment.”

Social Marketing for Health
We deliver successful social marketing strategies. Well, we think so, anyway. And our clients and their results say so too.
Our campaigns do more than keep up with the Jones’, they stay ahead them and to do this we’ve become a pretty cool bunch, except Dave (the boss). He wears smart shoes and always tucks in his shirt. Perfect for the more traditional approach, he reckons.
Well, it doesn’t matter what we dress like or what we are into really, because between us, we seem to work . And so do our social marketing strategies that always deliver effective ideas to tackle health and social issues.
Find out how we make our social marketing campaigns successfulIt’s a sprint, not a marathon
Unless you are Dave, Ian or Oliver, of course. The team recently enjoyed (although some endured) a fantastic day out go-karting. Simon, donning Alan Partridge-style leather gloves to give him a little extra purchase and go faster stripes on his jumper, screeched around the track at break-neck speed to record the fastest lap, as well as finishing in best place.
Laura, taunted the guys with her exceptional speed and handling, whipping up speeds that saw here lapping the guys many times and even would have left Schumacher trailing in her wake. Yet, for Oliver, Dave and Ian, they thought it was a marathon, and plodded around the track slower than a tortoise on crutches. They really didn’t get the idea that it was a sprint and you don’t get points for good driving in this game!
