Why use 3G Apps in Education?

The nature of education is changing and connectivity is the new essential for students.  As the learning environment changes, education organisations are adapting their approach to learning to enable today’s students to live, learn and thrive in a rapidly evolving ‘virtual’ world.

This immediate and evolving process of adaption is required to meet the biggest challenge faced by the businesses of tomorrow, that of keeping pace with technology to maintain a competitive advantage.  With Students now having the ability to connect to information through mobile devices, mobile connectivity is presenting huge opportunities for education organisations to enhance the student learning experience and provide them with the skills required by the businesses of tomorrow.

One area of opportunity is the development of education specific 3G App’s.  These have the power to transform and promote learning by making the experience not only engaging and exciting, but one that is also unique to each student due to its mobile capabilities.  Apps also provide education organisations with the capability to rapidly adapt to the evolving learning requirements of students and if this information is used effectively, to build apps that make collaborative learning a reality.

Lauren’s Blog - Week Four of My Internship

image

This week I was given the opportunity to learn how to edit short films as part of a media project run by Perfect Circle.
This involved using a range of media software packages to connect and edit a series of film clips.
The software packages and Perfect Circle allowed me to exercise my creative talents, by creating captions and titles for different parts of the films and using transitional effects between scenes. I presented these films to the team and everybody remarked how the films flowed and looked very professional. I then passed these across to the Perfect Circle team to commence finishing and uploading on to the clients website platform.

Lauren’s Blog - Week Three of My Internship

image

This week I got chance to help create a newsletter for an educational client of Perfect Circle. One of the designers had produced a newsletter layout and my job was to create articles using information from the client. I had to make sure the articles were written in a positive and inviting way in order to showcase the client.  I enjoyed this task as it was a new experience and it has been a while since I have had the opportunity to write in that style and format.

This week I was also given the task of sourcing promotional gifts for a client that could be personalised with their brand and given out at events and conferences. I was amazed at the variety of items available! However, I managed to research various products that I thought were the most appropriate and found the best prices for these on the Internet.

Next week I am looking forward to getting back into the website and sports equipment projects and can’t wait to see how they progress.

Lauren’s Blog - Week Two of My Internship

image

This week I presented mood boards to Oliver based on the research that I performed to review potential crossover technologies for a new range of sports equipment. We then had a meeting with the design team and initiated a market positioning exercise to align the brand identity of the new product range within their specific market. I also continued the benchmarking exercise and extended the scope of the project to review possible website designs for Perfect Cirle’s new brand site. I reviewed the site maps of the competition to understand what areas of expertise Perfect Circle can promote for their new website.  This information was then documented into a presentation which i gave to the Directors of Perfect Circle, this included a series of recommendations which were well recieved.

This week I got the opportunity to attend a pilot launch of a new product developed by Perfect Circle.  Having being introduced to this new product and seeing Perfect Circle’s presentation first time, I was really interested in the impact that this product can make and it was great to be involved at such an early stage of this project.

Lauren’s Blog - Week One of My Internship

image

My name is Lauren Perry and I have just started at Perfect Circle, on their Marketing Internship programme. I have just gained a degree at Huddersfield University in Marketing Management so I am looking forward to gaining some valuable experience. The team here have made me feel very welcome and I have started working on some very exciting projects!

In my first week at Perfect Circle I met Dave who introduced me to the first two projects I would be taking part in. The first of these was to start the process of creating an updated website for the branding services that Perfect Circle offers. This involved researching the market and performing a benchmarking exercise which was extremely interesting. The second project involves a sports company who are looking to reposition and re-brand a range of sports equipment.  I worked with the Perfect Circle team to research the market place and was asked to look relevant horizontal markets in order to understand how these products are promoted and the opportunities for any cross over technologies.

Confronting CVD & Bowel Cancer in Men

image

Despite the return of English spring weather, this month the ‘Check it Out’ campaign has hit the road in style with its very own customised Health Bus.  The campaign has been designed by Perfect Circle and NHS North Lancashire to deliver a targeted prevention for men in North Lancashire, in partnership with health professionals.  The campaign provides personalised early stage health checks and treatment programmes that are designed to prevent premature deaths from circulatory disease and bowel cancer.

The bus, which has been fitted with state-of-the-art equipment and consultation facilities, is being be used to visit the region’s largest employers to bring health services to the men of North Lancashire in a convenient and mobile unit.  This campaign was developed to address the barriers then men have to addressing their health and wellbeing, such as stoicism and reluctance to confront the issue of cancer,  the inconvenience of booking appointments, a perception of frontline health professionals as a last resort,  and hostility to doctors criticising lifestyle choices (e.g. smoking) .

This new initiative from NHS North Lancashire, offers men a quick, no-fuss blood pressure, height, weight and body mass index checks.  They also give out free information and advice on healthier lifestyle, getting moving, alcohol and smoking PLUS access to health professionals in an informal way, at a handy time.  For more information visit www.check-it-out.me or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Dental Access Campaign Success

image
Access to NHS dental services was identified as key priority for NHS Trafford. With additional resources been made available to increase NHS dental capacity in Trafford, and a target set for 60% of Trafford residents to have seen an NHS dentist in the previous 24 months by March 2011. To meet this Trafford PCT appointed Perfect Circle as their social marketing agency in August 2010.

Since that date Perfect Circle have worked with Trafford PCT to develop a unqiue social marketing campaign titled ‘Now there’s no excuses’, to direct new patients to register with an NHS Trafford dentist by March 2011 and educate the target audience on the availability of dental places in Trafford.

The campaign also was designed to communicate that everyone should see a dentist regularly, regardless of whether they have their own teeth and raise awareness that good oral hygiene can prevent future health problems, as well as boost self esteem. With pricing identified as a barrier to receiving treatment, key messages we included in the campaign to confirm with the target audience that a simple pricing structure is available for NHS dental treatment.
