As experts in behaviour change in the North West, we are always keeping an eye out on the behaviour change campaigns that are out there and the latest one to catch our eye is the 20 Minute Movement Campaign from Living Well.
Based in the Bradford District, the 20 Minute Movement Campaign aims to encourage everyone in the Bradford community to move their bodies more and for at least 20 minutes a day.
While 20 minutes may not sound like a long time, it is what makes this campaign great as most people can spare 20 minutes out of their day and it is what this small commitment could lead to once the benefits of being more active are experienced.
In fact, just 20 minutes a day will help people almost meet the NHS guidelines of at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity per week for adults aged 19-64.
Increasing physical activity is not only great for your physical well-being but also your mental well-being - especially if you can get outside for a walk with friends or family or perhaps head to the local leisure centre for a quick dip in the pool.
The campaign is designed to improve the lives, health and wellbeing of residents in the Bradford District by not only exercising more but also socialising more be that on a group walk or on a bike ride with a friend or family member.
Participants can choose to do all 20 minutes in one session or they can break it down into 5 or 10 minute chunks to make it more achievable. However they participate the campaign wants to help people live well and feel better.
