We’re pleased to share that Perfect Circle has been chosen to work with Noah’s Ark Foundation, helping the organisation communicate its plans for a new approach to wildlife conservation.
It’s a fascinating brief. Noah’s Ark Foundation is developing a conservation model that brings wildlife, habitats, science, communities and commercial thinking together, with the first Noah’s Ark Conservation Park planned for East Africa.
For us, the challenge is to take everything behind that proposition and create a digital presence that makes people want to find out more. It’s exactly the kind of project where good communication can make a real difference.
A different approach to conservation
Wildlife conservation faces some enormous challenges. Habitat loss, climate change and growing human populations all have an impact, while finding sustainable ways to fund conservation remains an important part of the wider picture.
Noah’s Ark Foundation is looking at what could be done differently. Its Ark Park concept is based around large protected environments where wildlife conservation and habitat restoration can sit alongside research, education and carefully managed tourism.
The model also brings together groups that each have something different to contribute:
• Conservationists and scientists: Sharing research, expertise and practical experience
• Businesses and investors: Exploring ways to support conservation for the long term
• Governments and organisations: Working together around environmental priorities
• Local communities: Creating opportunities for people living alongside conservation projects
It’s a broad proposition, but all those different parts contribute to the same overall ambition.
Finding the story at the heart of the brief
One of the first challenges is deciding how to tell that story. There’s a lot to say about Noah’s Ark Foundation and the people visiting the website won’t necessarily arrive with the same knowledge or priorities.
A conservation professional may want to dig straight into the detail. A potential partner could be interested in how the model works, while someone discovering Noah’s Ark Foundation for the first time needs a much quicker introduction.
Our job is to find a structure that works for all of them. Rather than trying to say everything at once, we can establish the central proposition early and let each visitor explore from there.
Giving people a reason to care
This is also where our experience in behavioural change comes into play. Facts matter, but information alone doesn’t necessarily change the way someone thinks or prompt them to do something next.
We’ll be considering the questions people are likely to have, what might make them curious and what they need to see before they’re ready to engage further. Those decisions will influence everything from the structure of the site to how the story unfolds.
Ultimately, Noah’s Ark Foundation needs a digital presence that does justice to the scale of what it wants to achieve without making the proposition feel inaccessible.
A brief we’re excited to get stuck into
We enjoy projects that give us something interesting to solve rather than simply asking us to make something look good. This one certainly does that.
Working with Noah’s Ark Foundation gives us the chance to combine digital and creative expertise with behavioural change thinking on a project where attracting attention, changing perceptions and encouraging participation all matter.
We’re looking forward to getting stuck in and sharing more as the project takes shape.
