Rochdale Creates Culture & Placemaking Directory Website Officially Launches

Following on from our first blog, we’re delighted to announce that the Rochdale Creates Directory Website is now live

This new online space brings together artists, musicians, designers, performers, writers and many more creative organisations from across Rochdale, Heywood, Middleton and the Pennines. The directory is a celebration of culture and creativity in all its forms.

Perfect Circle combined awesome web design and build expertise with local understanding to create a culture and placemaking directory website that leads with the latest UI design, providing a UX that is authentic, welcoming and easy to use.

It’s already becoming a vital resource for the borough’s creative sector – a space that encourages connection, visibility and long-term cultural growth. Our team worked hand in hand with Rochdale Creates to deliver a design that reflects the town’s cultural heartbeat and shows off its vibrant creative and cultural sector.

Every detail from the navigation to photography and the visual styling was created to make the brand experience consistent, whilst making the user experience simple, engaging and feel proudly Rochdale Creates.

It is designed to make it easier for people to connect, collaborate and celebrate what makes Rochdale such a creative and distinctive place to work. For the first time, the borough’s creative talent has a shared space to be seen and supported.

More than 100 creatives signed up within the first few weeks, showing how the platform’s community-led design is helping Rochdale’s creative network thrive.

Explore, connect and create

The Rochdale Creates Culture and Placemaking Directory Website is open to everyone who wants to explore, connect or get involved in the thriving creative and cultural sector. Visitors can:

- Browse hundreds of listings for artists, venues and organisations
- Find upcoming events, exhibitions and workshops
- Browse jobs opportunities, grants and funding opportunities
- Search by category or location to discover something new
- Create a free profile to share work, connect with others and grow their audience

Already, the response has been brilliant. Within weeks of launch, the site has begun to fill with profiles showcasing everything from visual arts and digital design to live music and performance. It is becoming a living map of Rochdale’s creative sector, constantly evolving as new people and organisations join.

Building momentum for the Town of Culture

The timing could not be better. As Rochdale prepares to become Greater Manchester’s Town of Culture for 2025 and 2026, the directory website will play a vital role in supporting the celebrations and packed event calendar It will help to promote events, highlight creative talent and act as the go-to place for businesses and visitors who want to experience the borough’s powerful cultural offer.

From pop-up gigs and public art to workshops and exhibitions, the Rochdale Creates Directory will help tell the story of a borough that has always been proud of its creativity and continues to use it to bring people together.

Looking ahead

In our final blog, we will explore how the directory is helping to power the Town of Culture celebrations and how it is becoming a lasting part of Rochdale’s cultural future.
